Species Description: One of the most iconic Nepenthes species, Nepenthes macrophylla was initially considered a form of Nepenthes villosa, then reclassified as a variant of Nepenthes edwardsiana, before ultimately receiving its own species description. N. macrophylla originates from Borneo where it grows at extremely high altitudes on steamy tropical mountain tops. It produces large, toothy pitchers in various shades of orange and red. It's my personal favorite species in the genus.
