Species Description: A fascinating species from Borneo, Nepenthes Lowii is found on numerous remote mountain tops at altitudes of 1650-2600 m above sea level. Lowii has a unique symbiotic relationship with a species of tree shrew. The pitchers produce copious amounts of a sugary substance that the shrews eat. In exchange, shrews defecate in the plant's pitchers, providing much-needed nitrogen and other nutrients.
